Teachings about Parents

Most religions teach about caring for parents, the Quran teaches and explains that in many places, (2:83, 2:215, 4:36, and 46:15-17). As a matter of fact, kindness to the parents comes directly after worshipping God:

"Thy Lord decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in life, say not to them a word of contempt nor repel them. But address them in terms of honor. And out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: My Lord! Bestow on them the mercy even as they cherished me in childhood" (17:23-24).

Honoring parents is taught by other religions as well, however, Islam stands out when it honors motherís bearing and delivering: "And we have enjoined on man (to be good) to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness and hardship upon weakness and hardship, and his weaning in two years". (31:14)

Also the teachings of the Messenger (pbuh) honors the mother, in Bukhari's record of Hadith we find:

"A man came to the Prophet Muhammad and said, "O Messenger of God; who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet said: {your mother.} The man said, "Then who?" The Prophet said: {Then your mother} The man further asked, "Then who?" The Prophet said: {Then your mother.} The man asked again, "Then who?" The Prophet said: {Then your father}
